Brazilian President Luiz In谩cio Lula da Silva has swiped at U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to raise tariffs on a wide range of products. Lula, who is visiting Japan, said Trump was free to make decisions within his own country but not for the world. He said Trump should consider the potential harm from higher threats to the American and global economies. Trump's announcement Wednesday that he would impose 25% tariffs on all U.S. auto imports came as a harsh blow for American ally Japan given its role as a major auto exporter. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba reiterated he wants Japan to be exempt from such tariffs and that he was considering all options including possible countermeasures.
